Meeting people at networking events, conferences or social situations in business can be a daunting prospect. What should I say? What if I offend the other person? How should I show that I'm interested? How do I excuse myself? We have all been there before at some stage or another, however with experience and patience, you can become a master networker by paying attention to the cultural 'dos and don'ts involved in breaking the ice for the first time.

相手から話を引き出すため、自分が話し手に関心を持っているということを表現するのも大切です。相手から目をそらさず、注意深く耳を傾けましょう。また、以下のようなテクニックで良い雰囲気を作り出すこともできます。

It is also important to show interest in the speaker and to encourage them to talk more. Naturally, maintaining eye contact and listening attentively are key points to remember, however generating a good feeling in the conversation can be achieved in the following ways:

会話が盛り上がってくると、今度は会話を終わらせるのが難しいと感じるかもしれませんね。失礼のないよう、またその場で終わらせず次へとつなげるためには、以下のような形で締めくくってみてください。
