Job Description [Position Summary]
The HR Assistant will join team that plays a pivotal role in fostering a productive and harmonious work environment that reflects our company's values. Working with the HR Executive, the individual will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy of Hakuba Hospitality Group (HHG). The individual will assist with handling all aspects of human resources practices and processes, supporting business needs, recruitment of staff, and administrative tasks. 

[Key Responsibilities ]
1. Assist with the recruitment and selection process to meet the staffing requirements of the company.
2. Assist in the development and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives, primarily focusing on the legal compliance regarding employment contracts and work conditions.
3. Bridge management and employee relations, and nurture a positive working environment.
4. Assist with coordinating any administrative tasks related to HR with other departments.
5. Coordinate with other departments to maintain the staff accommodations.
6. Plan team building events and outings.
Company Info Hakuba Hospitality Group is the leading property owner and manager, and restaurant and bar operator in Hakuba Valley, Nagano. Business operations depend on the time of the year. This past winter, HHG operated 6 hotels and over 50 chalets, and managed 13 food and beverage outlets. In the summer months, the operations scale back to being 3 hotels and the chalets, and 6 food and beverage outlets. While we have about 40 year-round permanent staff, we bring on an additional 250 staff members in the winter ski season to help operate the additional outlets.

Working Hours Standard working hours of 40 hours per week, with 2 days off each week. During the winter season (December to March), staff may be required to work six days per week based on the operation.

In the hospitality business, employees should be willing to work flexible hours, late evenings, weekends and holidays.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications:

1. Degree (Human Resources or a related field welcome)
2. Knowledge of Human Resources and ATS software's and databases.
3. Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
4. Basic knowledge of Japanese labor laws and best HR practices.
5. Business level (N2) Japanese or higher.
6. Business level English or higher.

Preferred Experience:

1. 2-years experience working in Human Resources
2. Japanese license preferred
3. Experience working in hospitality (restaurants, hotels, or other related businesses)
4. Familiarity with recruitment services and staffing agencies in Japan
5. Previous experience in recruiting, hiring and onboarding/offboarding staff

The ideal candidate for the HR assistant role has the ability to handle a fast-paced and dynamic work environment filled with people with all different nationalities and backgrounds. They have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and are organized, strong coordinators. The HR assistant has knowledge of the unique operational challenges and opportunities presented by being located in a resort environment, and is eager to learn.
