![]() Research on immunology is one of the fields in which Japan has taken a lead. Osaka University is particularly well known in this field with two former presidents, Dr. Yuichi Yamamura and Dr. Tadamitsu Kishimoto, who have been very successful pioneers in immunology research. Among other biological science areas in Japan, immunology has already gone far beyond the current world standard. Thus Osaka University leads the world with many top-level achievements in the field of immunology. We are going to expand the research with recruiting top class researchers in and outside of Japan. Laboratories of Immunology Frontier Research Center are divided by 3 groups; Immunology groups, Imaging group, Bioinformatics group. Each group is subdivided on the basis of study. ■Research about Immunology Immunology is a medical science that investigates the mechanisms of the host defenses that protect the body against microbial infection. Our mission is to manipulate the immune system, leading to the development of vaccines for infectious diseases based on novel strategies, concepts for immune therapies for various infectious diseases and cancers, and methods for treating autoimmune diseases. |
