1. Qualifications: Native English speaker with a good command of spoken as well as written Japanese. Applicants should be from an English-speaking country and have lived there for an extended period, possessing detailed knowledge of the language and culture and ability to communicate that knowledge. Applicants must be interested in promoting International Exchange within Itabashi City. Non-Japanese applicants must be eligible to work, or hold an appropriate working visa (or be able to apply for one before the contract period starts). Please be aware that the terms of employment are not sufficient to apply for a work visa without other employment and Itabashi City cannot sponsor a work visa. ※Please verify your documents before applying. ※Student applicants must have a Permission to Work Permit (SHIKAKUGAI-KATSUDOU-KYOKASYO) from the Immigration Department (or be able to apply for one before the contract period). 2. Number of positions: 1 3. Term of Employment: 1) Contract period: April 1st, 2006 to March 31st, 2007; 1 year renewable contract 2) Working Conditions: 8 days a month for a maximum of 64 hours a month (days vary) 3) Payment (as of Fiscal 2005): \14,100/full day (before tax) 8:30 to 17:15 \ 7,050/half day (before tax) 8:30 to 12:30 or 13:15 to 17:15 4) Paid holidays per year: 3 5) Office: International Exchange Section, Itabashi City Hall 4. Position Description: 1) Facilitate Itabashi’s sister city relations 2) Work with foreign visitors to Itabashi 3) Edit overseas advertising 4) Translate city documents/overseas correspondence 5) Provide language guidance and instruction for city employees and Itabashi citizens 6) Collect information from overseas 7) Help manage and realize major city events 8) Participate in activities upon Mayor’s need 5. Application Procedure: 1)Please complete a pre-formatted Japanese-style resume in Japanese with photograph (found at local stationary or convenience stores) 2)Send post card (blank on both sides: KANSEI HAGAKI) with your address and name on (to be used as exam/interview notification) 3) ●Applicants of Japanese nationality should bring a certificate of Resident Registration (HONSEKICHI KISAI NO JUMINHYO) dated within 3 months of the Examination Date. ●Those not of Japanese nationality, please bring an original certificate of foreign registration detailing your current place of residence and visa type dated within 3 months of the Examination Date. ※Be aware that this is not your foreigner registration card. Ask for the GAIKOKUJIN-TOROKU-ZUMI-SHOMEISHO at your city office where you are registered as a resident. ●Students should bring their Permission to Work Permit (SHIKAKU KATSUDO KYOKASHO) or have applied for one. 4) Application Deadline: Monday, March 6th 2006 ※Please send the above documents by mail or drop them off at the International Exchange Section in person. 6. Hiring Process: 1) Exam: ●Written Exam consisting of two translations (EnglishèJapanese & JapaneseèEnglish) ●Interview: Interview in Japanese related to general knowledge, work experience etc. 2) Date of Examination: Friday, March 10th 2006 (The interview will follow the written exam. Finishing time will depend on number of applicants) 3) Exam Location: Information Processing (JOUHOSHORI) Centre, 5F DAIICHI Seminar Room 4) What to bring: Pen, pencil, erase and related items, Exam notification card 5) Announcement of results: The successful applicant will be contacted by post no later than Friday, 24th, 2006 7. Other information: If you haven’t received a test notification by Thursday, March 9th 2006, please contact the person in charge. Also, since the interview will take place in the afternoon, please bring something to eat for lunch (a room will be provided).
