In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the growth of the global market as an engineering manager, working with the global team to drive development in line with local needs. You will have the discretion necessary to lead development, including decision making and member assignment, and will also be responsible for progress management and line management. This is an important position that is key to global expansion, with the challenging and rewarding task of growing products while overcoming obstacles such as language, cultural differences, time zones, and physical distance, and interacting with the global market. You do not need to be perfect in English verbal communication in a global team. However, the ability to read English documents and communicate in written English is required. Let's put your skills to use and create global product development! ■About the Development System The development team for the “LegalOn Global” global product is based in Japan and currently consists of approximately 20 engineers. Group companies are in charge of sales and product management, and the Japanese team will continue to lead the development and operation of the software. 【Your Role】 ■Mission / Issues - Lead the development and improvement of global legal tech products with necessary discretion, including making development decisions and assigning members, while taking responsibility for progress management and line management. - Communicate appropriately with stakeholders, including product and sales teams in the US, as well as development teams in own division and other divisions in Japan, to provide optimal solutions to customers based on knowledge, including technical expertise. ■Responsibilities - As a leader, take responsibility for the success of development projects, setting appropriate goals, building organization, and managing progress. - Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and engineers from various disciplines and teams to discuss and evaluate the direction and feasibility of product development. - Participate in discussions with engineers on technical issues and facilitate problem solving. - Not only develop new features, but also aim to improve the value provided by the product by placing the highest priority on the customer's viewpoint. Clearly define multiple objective metrics and implement actions to improve them. - Remove obstacles from the development team and create an environment where members can focus on development and maximize team performance. - Train development team members through on-the-job training, 1-on-1 meetings, and review. - Support line management, including evaluation and hiring. |

【Required】 - 3+ years of experience managing a team of 3+ people in a software development team - 5+ years of engineering experience as a software engineer - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Japanese language proficiency equivalent to JLPT N1 level - Business level English (e.g. TOEIC L&R 860+) - Listening and reading required - Conversational and writing skills a plus 【Preferred】 - Master's degree in Computer Science or other related technical field - Experience working on software development projects across multiple countries and regions - Experience working as a product owner - Experience developing and operating B2B services - Experience developing features, eliminating technical debt, prioritizing technology investments, and creating development plans - Experience planning, executing, measuring, and improving development team performance initiatives |
