Develops and produce radar systems for various Automotive applications. While platform development of these sensors is located in USA (MA, MI) and Germany, Application Engineering and Project Management for Asia Pacific OEMs will be based locally close to the OEM.
The objective is to look after the engineering activities related to radar HW, SW and vehicle integration for customer projects and R&D projects.
The Radar Engineer will work under the guidance of the Radar Engineering Manager and in close collaboration with the Project Team Leader and Project Design Lead for the given platform, in order to cover the technical aspects of the project.
The performance of Radars used for automotive safety application depends on different elements: The radar itself, the bumper where the sensor is installed, the targets and their radar reflectivity characteristics, the safety application associated.
A comprehensive system knowledge and approach is therefore required to be able to address issues related to the final application performance.
The Radar Design Engineer will verify the integration of the sensor in vehicle environment from the initial stages of sensor installation layout to the final performance validation, and conduct, any required troubleshooting activities and associated sub-system testing.
The Radar Design Engineer will have as well in charge of the required data collection, in order to ensure the specific aspects of the vehicle layout are taken into account for the project.
For this, the Radar Design Engineer will work in close relationship with the Product Assurance Group, in order to define and update the test specification, and perform the data collection.
Hardware Application Engineering
It is expected that the platform design of the Radar will match the customer requirements. However, the relevant part of the design and product validation needs to be conducted to ensure that prior validation and project specific “delta” validation are thorough to ensure product full compliance. The Radar Engineer is to deal with any issue related to the radar specific hardware.
It is expect that the Radar platform SW is already developed to match the system requirement. However, some vehicle specific parameters and radar core SW may be required to be implemented or tuned for the specific project. The Radar Design Engineer will work in close collaboration with the platform development team to specify, implement and validate the parameters or SW required to the radar system.
The Radar Design Engineer will work in close collaboration with the mechanical Engineer, in order to define and design the sensor installation in the vehicle. The sensor integration will need to comply carefully with the integration guidelines if already defined. If the integration guideline is not fully developed, the Radar Design Engineer with work closely with the platform development team to define the integration guideline.
CAE and physical evaluation of the design need to be conducted to ensure compliance to OEM system level requirement.
The Radar Design Engineer will also perform or supervise the design validation tasks regarding the vehicle integration.
The Radar Design Engineer will closely in contact with the customer to define the specification of the product to match the customer’s expectation while protecting interest.
The Radar Design Engineer will be required to build the specification for the tools to validate the radar signal processing and to ensure the quality of the products which are related to the radar performance.
Therefore, The Radar Design Engineer will require the communication skill to negotiate with the customer and to support the project engineering team members.
