Software Lead Engineer
Develops and produces various Active Safety devices (Radar, Night Vision, Vision) for automotive applications.
While core development of these sensors is located in USA (MA, CA) or Sweden, Application Engineering for Asian OEM will be based in Japan.
Committed to developing local Engineering capability in Japan for this growing business.
2 Position objectives.
The position is aimed at covering needs for:
• Application Engineering:
o Acquire and analyze Software Requirements with communicate with customer, Design Software, Instruct software code, Conduct software testing
o Review the software artifacts, which are developed by software team engineer.
o Communicate and work with the engineer in the other site.
• Prototyping: Development of gateways and troubleshooting for prototype systems (demo cars, bench set ups)
• System evaluation tools development
• Software troubleshooting
• Lead Software development team:
o Negotiate and commit the timing, quality, and cost for software development with project team
o Lead software development team to keep commitment
o Report software development status to Project team and software line manager
o Support project management, system level review and testing, etc.
o Support the investigation of issue on the validated ECU, the delivered ECU, the Demo car, and the fields return ECU, and so on.
o SQA process audit for compliance with AS151
3.1 Application Engineering.
Each Application program will require development of specific communication interfaces to the vehicle (CAN communication protocol), diagnostic fault management and tuning of upper level application software to the customer requirements.
The candidate will take responsibility for specifying, developing, validating and tracing these different software releases in line with the OEM specification both for prototype builds (gateways), up to final software release.
This activity will need to be conducted in accordance with software development process.
3.2 Software troubleshooting.
In case the performance of the System in the vehicle does not meet the customer specification or ALV internal specification, or in case some inadvertent malfunction occurs, the candidate will need, in collaboration with the system Engineer, to build proper troubleshooting analysis (FTA, Fish-bone diagram, etc) in order to indentify the contribution of the software to the issue, in collaboration with the relevant core team members, and propose countermeasures.
Specific vehicle prototype builds need to be built in order to demonstrate the performance of the Application to OEMs. The candidate will develop gateways and software revisions in order to adapt the sensors to the prototype vehicle.
3.4 Validation tools
The candidate will develop specific validation tools in order to be able to evaluate system performance in an effective way: These tools will help link the actual target information to the sensor processed target information in order to highlight system performance.
3.5 Software Team leading.
The candidate will take responsibility for leading software development team of application software, or Prototyping software, or Tool software, as Software Leader. Software leader has to communicate with project team about timing, quality, cost, and so on, then lead software engineers to be success that project.
Software leader has to monitor the status of software development and take action before issue happen, also report the status of software development to project team and software line manager.
The candidate must have leadership skill to lead the team and motivate the team members

3.6 Personal attributes.
Engineering degree in Electronics with later specialization in Software development.
Experience in Software build and release in a similar field.
Experience in CAN communication protocol, diagnostic management
Experience in Automotive industry is mandatory.
3.6.2 Programming Languages
Matlab, C/C++ language, Simulink.
The candidate must be keen to build strong communication bridges with overseas development centres and accommodate cultural differences.
The candidate could potentially be assigned for a fixed term assignment in one of the core centres in order to develop his exposure to the Radar, Night Vision, and Vision technology.
The candidate can be flexible and liaise with EU/US despite the time zone difference.
Strong English command required (TOEIC>700)
