Welcome to Mintel

Global PointFrom London! The world's leading global market intelligence company

Mintel is a leading market intelligence company.
Founded in 1972, it was named by combining the words "market" and "intelligence." As the name suggests, what sets Mintel apart is market intelligence itself.

The combination of highly reliable data accumulated over many years, excellent industry analysts, and outstanding research capabilities will help you grow and expand.
We have 13 locations worldwide - London, Chicago, Shanghai, Belfast, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Munich, New York, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Toronto.

One of our assets is our unique perspective based on years of accumulation.
That is why we are able to provide the necessary information on the future outlook of the market from multiple angles.
Market intelligence includes four elements : market research data, market analysis reports, new product information, and competitor analysis .
From these various elements, we select and combine the most suitable information according to the customer's needs, and provide truly useful insights by comprehensively analyzing it. We believe that this is both important and our mission.

Job

Q1. Please tell us briefly about your work.
We propose support/after-sales service and additional services for contract renewal to existing customers.

Q2. What kind of work did you do before coming to Mintel? Why did you choose Mintel?
I worked at a foreign Japanese embassy. After gaining experience overseas, I eventually wanted to do a job that would contribute to the development of Japanese companies. That is the reason why I joined Mintel.
I was particularly attracted to the fact that it provides information on trends not only in Japan but also overseas.

Q3. Please tell us about the team and the atmosphere in the company.
The atmosphere is bright and flexible, and there is little overtime and it is easy to take paid holidays.
Communication is active and open, not only within the sales department, but also between departments.
If you have any problems or difficulties, you can rest assured that your team and your boss will help you.

Q4. Why do you keep working at Mintel?
Flexibility and speed of decision-making, including our London headquarters, inspire us with a variety of new challenges. The sales style for customers will also change as the company grows, such as increasing the number of product options to sell and planning new marketing activities.

One of the reasons is that I enjoy working in a stimulating workplace that is constantly changing. And also I am able to continue working as a sales representative after marriage and childbirth without strain because of the flexible response to changing life stages.

(Japan office Ms. F)
Q5. What kind of person would you like to join? Please give a message to the candidates.
We are looking for people who like to take on new challenges and grow with the company!
As a foreign company, there may be an image that high English skills are required, but for those who want to use their sales skills (communication skills) rather than English skills, Mintel offers a rewarding incentive system that evaluates achievements.

We have a support system from the team and superiors and a good work-life balance, so you can join us from a different industry with peace of mind.

Job[Employee interview] The charm of Mintel! Changed from a food manufacturer to the market research industry!

Q1. Please tell us briefly about your work.
We are engaged in sales to develop new business partners for food, beverage, cosmetics, and raw material manufacturers. I am in charge of introducing Mintel services at exhibitions and over the phone, signing contracts through presentations, and arranging after-sales support.

(Japan office Mr. S)
Q2.Why did you choose Mintel? Tell us what Mintel is proud of!
Mintel is a place with great data on the global food, beverage, and cosmetics industries, including GNPD and trend information. My previous job was at a food manufacturer, where I was involved in a wide range of areas from development to sales. I chose Mintel because I wanted many companies to use this tool because I thought it would be a great tool for product development and marketing. Another good thing about Mintel is that the office is stylish and the work environment is very nice!

Q3. How often/where do you use English?

Since I mainly work in domestic sales, I only use it once or twice a week, just to write reports. Managerial bosses have video meetings with their bosses in Shanghai and Singapore more frequently. I have a business trip to Shanghai soon, and I have training and meetings with colleagues who do the same work in APAC, so I will be working entirely in English.

Q4. Please tell us about the team and the atmosphere in the company.
It's a very frank and team-friendly workplace!
Currently, the company size is about 20 people, so we are a small group of elite people who are quick to make decisions and carry out sales activities with good footwork.
There are two major sales teams, new sales and account sales, and we work while communicating and supporting each other. There is almost no overtime, and there is a clear division between on and off work.

Q5. I heard that you were originally from a manufacturer, but why did you decide to change jobs from in-house?
In my previous job, I worked at a food manufacturer in Thailand and was in charge of planning new products, marketing, making prototypes with factories, and exporting sales to Japan.
At this time, I did desk research on competitors' products, market trends, market size, etc., but the work was very complicated and I often couldn't get accurate information.
At first, I was looking for a job at a food manufacturer in Thailand, but I learned about Mintel's database and trend reports, I decided to join Mintel because I thought I could help people who are doing the same complicated work as I was at a food manufacturer.
Even in my current sales activities, when I hold business talks with manufacturers who are struggling with desk research, and they tell me, "You can use this database!", I feel overwhelmed.

Q6. What kind of person would you like to join? Please give a message to the candidates.
Everyone at Mintel has a different background, and no one has the same background. Since it is a foreign-affiliated company, they are very flexible and support you to think and act with responsibility.

If you are interested in the food/beverage/cosmetics industry that Mintel is involved in, please apply regardless of your background!
