Wind power has long been considered as an important component of electricity generation in many parts of the world. The demand worldwide in the area of renewable energy is growing at a fast pace. The global turbine installation figures are increasing from year to year. In 2016, for example, wind turbines with an output of 54,600 megawatts were erected – and the trend is still on the increase. In Germany annual growth rates of around 2,500 megawatts are expected. International developments are heavily influenced by fluctuations in USA as well as by the growth markets in China and India. But in Europe too, a high level of developments can be observed. In 2016, 13,926 megawatts of new output were installed.

wpd is taking account of this development. For years we have been expanding our activities abroad – in some cases together with local partners. We have set up a worldwide project pipeline of 7,500 megawatts in 18 countries. Our portfolio covers all services from the planning and financing of projects to their construction and the running and management of the finished wind farm. And in the process our teams abroad are excellently networked with their colleagues in Germany. Together they can draw on decades of experience in the wind power sector and they can exploit their synergy effects successfully.
